5 of the Funniest Advertising Videos on Youtube

It’s been a big year, as they always are.

Or, if you are reading this at another part of the year, I think you still need to enjoy some light hearted fun.

So, I thought I’d post some beautifully made advertising videos that will hopefully make you laugh.

Some of these videos actually contain very few words, however the creativity, humour and hard work in the video scripts that created them abounds.

Humorous videos are of course a super effective marketing tool.  As Zarna Feltham states in an article titled, How to Use Humor in Advertising to Make Your Small Business More Memorable at All Business, this is  because humour is by its very nature disruptive, which makes people pay attention.  It also makes people laugh, entertains them and makes them feel good.  According to Feltham, research shows that this hugely increases the chance of that person remembering the product or service you are selling.

1. Girls Don't Poop - Poo Pourri

This video created exponential growth for Poo Pourri, which is now a $300 million dollar business.  At the time of writing, the video had 44 million views on Youtube.  I found this video through an awesome Marie Forleo interview called How the Founder of Poo-Pourri Used Intuition to Start a $300 Million Company.  

2. Beautiful Morning - The Sun-Herald

This is an advertisement for an Australian newspaper from over 10 years ago.  I’ve included it because I’m Australian.  I love the video, and it demonstrates how you always get great comedic value out of things going wrong.

3. The Process - Aviation Gin

This Aviation Gin commercial had 165, 000 views on Youtube at the time of writing.  I found the video through an article by John Hall at Forbes titled, 5 Viral Videos That Sell Products Through Humor.  It does an awesome job of taking the proverbial out of meaningless but trendy buzz words.  

4. English Training - Nintendo DS

This video had 107,000 views on Youtube at the time of writing.  It’s brief but beautifully done.   

5. Middle Seat - Airplane Super Bowl Commercial 2015 - Doritos

This Doritos commercial is only 53 seconds long but is super effective.  Anyone who has travelled on a plane can relate to the scenario that plays out in the video.
